twice yesterday, ian stuck a popcorn kernel up his nose. fortunately, as soon as he did it he realized something was amiss & came to me immediately. i mashed on his "clear" nostril to close it and had him blow out the other one, he was able to expel the kernel from his nose. (were this not such a dangerous thing, the kernel shooting from his nose would have been really funny!) after the second time, i *think* he is convinced of the gravity of the situation. only time will tell!

What makes kids do that? I've heard of all kinds of things going in the nose and ears...beans come to mind...sprouting! Go figure!
didn't one of the hiatt's have a bb stuck in his ear for a long time?
Halle swallowed a metal marble today. Lisa called an instant care center and they said she had to be x-rayed. Lisa went to a closer doctor and he said it's okay. No x-ray necessary.
Poor Halle! Maybe it's along the same lines as swallowing money...I guess it passes. And speaking of such things, I guess we all remember the story of grandpa and the tooth!
And, yes, I think one of the Hiatt's did have something going on with a bb in the ear.

The tooth story was about Grandpa Arnold who was visiting at Verona's and lost a tooth from his dentures - swallowed it while eating an orange. So, he just waited patiently and watched until it came through, got it out, boiled it, and superglued it back in place - none the worse for wear! Seemed to work fine! Pretty resourceful, huh?! We'll just try not to think about the gross part...
with the grandpa thing...you just have to enjoy the story as a whole & not get caught up in the details...in other words, don't use your imagination!
