on may 1st, elise went to her friend madi's birthday party. madi was talking about how she was getting her ears pierced that night. apparently her parents wanted her to start buckling herself into her booster seat by herself. when she had done it for a certain amount of time, she got her ears pierced. i don't think elise had even noticed pierced ears until that moment. but she picked up on it in a hurry. she talked and talked about getting her ears pierced and i kept telling her "no". but she was so persistant. so cory & i discussed it and told her that if she would sleep in her bed for one month, then she could get them pierced. and what do you know?! she did it! she did it without complaining or whining or crying, not even once! this was a really difficult thing for her & she had tried many times before. so i was incredibly proud of her accomplishment & gladly rewarded her with pierced ears. so here she is, right afterwards, sitting on a bench in the mall eating her vanilla ice cream & sprinkles!

5 rays of sunshine:
Great job, Elise! I am proud of you, too! That's great that you can sleep in your own bed and I can't wait to see your pretty earrings.
Hooray for Elise.
Sounds like a pretty exciting month!
That is funny, because Halle had hers peirced about three weeks ago. She was ambivilant, but knowing her intense fear of anything painful, I was worried she would become to afraid to have it done when she is old enough to really understand what they do. We went and had it done, and she cried and cried. Just to put it in perspective she is saying she will not go to kindergarten if she has to get shots. I figured I better be proactive on this one.
i guess you are not looking forward the shots, either, are you? i worried about elise's shots too, b/c a while back she & ian both had to have their fingers pricked. ian cried a little and was done. elise started BAWLING before they sanitized her finger. she was pretty nervous about her shots. but she did great. i bought her a polly pocket before hand, and told her that i had a surprise for her afterwards. she got a few tears, but no real crying. i was stunned. i hope halle survives the ordeal. does she like her earrings now that they're done? which ones did she pick out? elise chose the "diamond" studs. they're really cute.
Halle is all right with her earrings now, but seems indifferent to them. She picked some little pink rhinestone flowers with a diamond center. That was actually all that the walmart had, they were out of all the other options. They were pricey too, $26 compared to $8 for the ones they were out of! Oh well!
