another quote

this was in my relief society email this morning:

"Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Happiness is to be found along the way, not at the end. For then the journey is over and it is too late. The time for happiness is today, not tomorrow." ~Joseph Smith Jr.

i just love a good quote!

very insightful, cory! you're just great!

it makes me think about the activity we did for lesson last night in FHE. you were supposed to have everyone look for all the pink things in the room. then you had them close their eyes & tell you all the yellow things they saw. the point was that if you focused on the negative things in life and what you don't have, pretty soon that's all you could see and you become unhappy, etc. and the opposite is true if you look for the good things & how many blessings you have. it was a good reminder.

oh, and thanks for giving ian a haircut. he sooooo needed one & it looks great. now when we take pics with the baby, he won't look like a caveman! (a cute caveman, but shaggy nonetheless.) now he looks sharp! and so handsome!

My friend was going through a horrible time years ago and was talking to her mom about all her troubles and her mom finally said "this is earth, not heaven" I think that is a great reminder that even though we strive to live a celestial life, we are still stuck in this earth life. Can't change that. I also like to think of Joseph Smith and all the trials he passed through, and he was a truly great man, assured every blessing in the world to come. Just because we live righteously doesn't mean life is smooth or easy. that is a hard thing to accept. most of the time i just wonder what happened to the blessings. Then i look around and realize i have them, just not the ones i imagined. and then i am truly grateful.

That is a great quote and such good comments, too. We need to remember to have "joy in the journey".

I had lesson last night in FHE and did an object lesson at the beginning where I set up dominoes and had Logan touch the first one and of course it touched the next and next until the end. I made the point that when we show love or kindness or give service to someone in our family or our friends that the effects are felt beyond that first thing we did. I think when someone loves us and is kind to us and serves us, we want do the same thing back to them and to those around us and it just spreads, goes on and on.
