sweet baby girl

elise was so sweet yesterday. i had been in the kitchen doing dishes when she ran into the room. "Mama!", she said, "Come see what i did to your bedroom! you are going to be sooooo surprised! you are not even going to believe what i have done!" i followed her into the bedroom and saw that she had made the bed as best she could (which was surprisingly good considering she's a 3 year old and she was tackling a king sized bed), stacking the pillows at the top, and had placed two of her teddy bears on them. i, of course, bragged on her to no end and she was pleased as punch. those moments, when she has done something so selfless to try and make me happy, when she wants nothing more than to hear what a great girl she is and how much i love her, make my heart want to burst. i feel overwhelmed, or maybe it's overflowing, to be her mother!

I still remember the feeling of such overwhelming love that you don't think your heart can contain it. I still feel that way when I look at my children now-it doesn't ever go away. Sounds like you are setting a wonderful example for Elise. I know that you are a fantastice mother! Look forward to seeing you all in person sometime soon.

thanks, terri. some days i go to bed feeling like i've done a great job & others--not so hot! so it's always good to hear those things. it's such a different perspective to see my own children & realize how my mom felt about me.
